Better to be a door-keeper …?

While researching Janet’s grandmother’s history I have found that in 1901, at the age of 20, she was a domestic servant here at Kelsterton Hall on the Dee estuary in Flintshire, not too far from her parental home in the village of Llangwm in Denbighshire.

She soon moved to be head cook in a similar property, Hopton Court in Shropshire, where she met Sydney Edwards.  They married in 1904, but only six years later (in 1910) she was left a widow with seven children, including Tom Edwards and three sets of twins.  She survived until 1959, aged 77.

Postscript: Kelsterton Hall is currently for sale at 1.2 million pounds.

Wouldn’t this be a wonderful home coming? Plenty of space for family reunions and murder mystery weekends!

I wonder if the duke box comes with it?

The garden would need a little clearing and the interiors modernising but it would be a great family home – or a great investment. I’ll do the interiors if someone else will do the garden – oh and if someone can stump up the £1.2 million that’d be great too!
